All the sliding windows panels have a anti-lift mechanism which can be removed from inside in order to perform maintenance, but when in place, it ensures the panel cannot be lifted from outside and hence it will not run the risk of falling off the track.
Generally all the windows are glazed with 4mm float glass, which is not safety glass. However, where the safety stipulations require safety glass, then we use 4mm TSG (Toughened Safety) glass or a 6.38mm Laminated glass (at customer’s request).
The sliding windows come with panels that are all sliding. It comes in 2 and 4 panels, so in general the need to reverse is no longer required as it was the case with a fixed panel and a sliding panel window unit.
These types of windows have 2 panels which slide up and down. This means that the bottom panel slides up and the top one slides down. They have a stopping action, so the top panel will never run the risk of falling downwards.
The folding windows are actually small versions of the folding doors. They work in the same manner as the doors. We always suggest to get them top open outwards in order to seal better against weather elements.
The top-hing and side-hung windows are basically the same type of system, made of the same extrusions, utilizing the same type of hinging mechanisms (stays). The only difference is that the side-hung window opens side-ways and it offers the ability to open the pane larger than the top-hung which is limited by standard to be 600mm high, whereas the side-hung can be the size of 1200mm high.
